Whenever you look for information or clarify your doubts, you type your “query” or “Keyword” on Google. Soon after, you notice that relevant links show up.
How do you think information is built-in Google? Does it have a system or does it randomly show website links?
How does Google know what we want exactly?
Here “keyword ” plays the major role, that is what tells Google what we are looking for
For Example: Type the keyword “Tips to improve handwriting” on Google and check its results on the below image.
Perfecting keyword research, analysis, and mapping give us these results, which is one of the significant strategies in SEO.
When the user types and looks for something on Google it is called “query”, the same query for a webmaster or website owner is called “keyword”.
I hope you have understood the difference between “query” and “keyword.” The same applies to any search engine like yahoo, bing, or ask.com.

Notice that there are a few headings in the pink box. For an SEO keyword research you should consider :
- Keyword by relevance
- Avg. monthly searches
- Top of the page bid low
Now you might think why I ignored the “competition ” part, I will explain that to you in a while.
Keyword relevance is very important. It decides your business position in the market, so choose the keywords that are closer to your business.
For example in the image above you can see “WordPress tips” as my research, hence this keyword is not suitable.
Hope you have understood now.
Search volume refers to the average number of users are searching with that keyword per month. Always pick high search volume keywords to get high traffic.
Don’t consider the “competition” tool her because this is for Google Adwords, and not for SEO.
You can consider bidding, it means that people are searching for these keywords, additionally, average bidding depends on your niche.
Always choose keywords with decent bidding.
How Google Suggests long-tail keywords :
This is also a free process, it requires no login or tools.
Type your keyword, just a few characters maybe until what you are searching for makes sense.
Sample example: “Blogging tips” is the keyword, but here I have just typed “blogging”, now Google will start showing a few suggestions on its drop down list, you can use all those suggestions in your business to create content.
Now type the entire keyword “Blogging tips”, and scroll down to the bottom of the page. You will notice long-tail keywords, pick these keywords as well whatever suits your research.
Finding Competitor Keywords :
When you have a basic understanding of the business you want to look into, it will be very easy to find out the keywords.
Each business model is different, they may provide service or sell products.
Some of them may already be doing what you intend to.
Use the keyword freer SEO research tool Ubersuggest to find out your competitors keywords. Because in SEO competition, analysis is mandatory to improve yourself.
Don’t replicate your competitor’s strategy, pick those keywords that he is not performing well in and use it for your business. You can fill those gaps to outreach them in rankings.
Now, the billion-dollar question is how to find out the competitors?!
The answer is simple, type your main keyword on Google, now the top three results are your competitors.
EX: My main keyword is “Blogging tips for beginners”, the top three links are my competitors. Pull these URLs and past them, and also use ubersuggest tool to help you find competitors.
Revise: Ubersuggest helps you in finding keywords suggestions, competitor keywords and also backlinks.
Sometimes huge brands like Wikipedia, Google articles, Amazon are your competitors and we cannot compete with them.
Research on keywords would take some time, as I said keyword research is finding the words and phrases (long-tail keywords), meaning how people are searching the search engine.
When finding keywords, a few metrics are important to consider to get better organic traffic :
Keyword search volume
Also, keywords categorized into few :
The significant point here again is keyword mapping. It will be done to each stand-alone URL and not just to the website as a whole. Each URL page contains unique content so a unique keyword needs to be mapped.
Ex: I will map the keyword “keyword search” to the URL, the one that you are reading now .”https://www.writingword.com/keyword-research”, I will not just do it to the home page “https://www.writingword.com”, or it is bad for the SEO.
Plan your SEO strategies for each page, and not just for the “Home page”.
At least once in a month perform SEO Audit on your web to check its performance.
Tools to do a keyword search :
Google keyword planner (free)
LSI graph (free)
One important point you need to remember is that, just with the keyword stuffing to the website we won’t be able to work at all, keyword mapping is the combination of content too.
How to use the keywords in the pages?
Do not stuff the keywords, use them in the flow of the content without breaking the context, keyword density ratio should be 1.5 to a percentage, try to use long-tail keywords and synonymous.
You can use the main keyword in meta title, description, page title, URL, H1 tags, image alt text and mainly in the page content.
For e-commerce SEO you can use the keywords in the product description, and in content strategy.
Draft information and engaging content for the users. The best thing you can give your user is more chances to rank on the top due to their keywords
